The Story Behind PhiBrows Pigments
PhiBrows pigments come in 2 formulas named SUPE and SUPER, with some differences regarding the quality, value, and price of the products.
The primary factor is the fact that the SUPER formula is bioinert, meaning the body doesn’t recognize the pigments as foreign matter and doesn’t resist them the way it does many other formulas.
Apart from that, both collections feature stable pigments that prevent the color from turning into unwanted shades over time.
This is why they’re generally considered to be among the best microblading pigments.
NOTE
Some artists warn that PhiBrows pigments heal on the cooler side.
Their main argument is that PhiBrows pigments are hybrid formulas with traces of carbon black, which increases the risk of healing towards cooler and ashier tones immediately upon healing and over time.
This is not a negative thing per se – almost any pigment heals towards warmer or cooler, and cooler healing is actually the preferred outcome for most artists since it’s easier to perfect at the touch up than warm healing.

PhiBrows Golden Brown
Golden Brown is the lightest color in the PhiBrows color chart.
It’s specifically designed for clients with extremely light, natural hair, skin, and eyes.

However, this pigment contains traces of carbon black in its formula, which may yield somewhat cooler healed results on clients with different skin undertones.
For that reason, artists often mix Golden Brown with the PhiBrows basic pigments to warm it up slightly further, achieve uniformity in healing, and prevent the color from shifting over time.

How Does Golden Brown Heal?
According to artists, unmodified Golden Brown heals best on clients with a warmer skin undertone.
On clients with naturally cooler skin undertone, the color tends to heal more ashy brown than golden brown — no matter how light-handed you are — because cool pigments (primarily carbon black) overpower and outlast the warmer particles of the pigment.

In that sense, artists should be very cautious when it comes to elderly clients, whose skin can really suck in the pigment and cause it to heal ashier, especially at the tail of eyebrows, where the skin is naturally thinner.

Brown 1 is a pigment with a soft brown hue that delivers a natural and flattering look for clients with light features — naturally blonde, ashy blond or very light brown hair, and light skin tone.

However, Brown 2 has carbon black on its ingredient list, meaning that some clients may experience slightly off-color healing, with end results leaning towards darker and grayish colors.
All things aside, this pigment is the one artists can use in most of their sessions, both on its own and in combination with PhiBrows basic and other pre-mixed pigments.
Usually, they mix it with basic black pigment or Brown 3 to achieve a darker effect, or with Brown 1 to slightly lighten it up.

How Does Brown 2 Heal?
Considering the fact that Brown 2 contains a certain amount of carbon black, there is a risk that the pigment will heal darker and ashier on clients with cooler skin undertones.

PhiBrows Brown 3
Brown 3 is the deepest and richest brown color mixed to match darker (almost black) skin, hair and eyes.
In theory, this pigment is supposed to harmonize flawlessly with the natural characteristics of clients with melanin-rich complexion, healing true to color regardless of the client’s skin undertone.
In practice, artists use it often on clients of different complexions, even on fair-skinned clients who have dark hair and want prominent eyebrows.

To get the right shade and make sure the color heals the right way, artists usually combine Brown 3 with Brown 2 for a softer and lighter brown effect, with Fox, Red or Yellow to warm it up, or with basic Black pigment to deepen the color if needed.

In any case, with Brown 3 you get results that will stay dark, even after healing, and the expected 30-40% pigment loss. So it’s a reliable pigment, but it may not be the best for mature skin that will keep any pigment dark anyway.

How Does Brown 3 Heal?
On clients with cooler skin undertones, Brown 3 may simply stay a darker, neutral brown. On clients with melanin-rich skin, it can look almost black, especially if it’s modified with Black.
But know that the carbon-infused formula may be the reason why in some cases Brown 3 heals slightly off-color, even cooler than intended, gravitating towards solid grayish hues over time.

In reality, things can get a twist if this pigment is applied to the skin with a naturally cooler undertone. Once again, this effect can be attributed to carbon black, which is an integral part of this formula.
To achieve the perfect balance, artists often combine Fox with Golden Brown for a natural and warm effect, or Brown 1 and Brown 2 for a richer and deeper hue leaning towards brown.

In practice, Fox is used as a modifier for one of the pure brown shades more often, than the other way around. But you get a well-rounded reddish brown shade that’s beautiful when used on its own, as long as you get a suitable client.

Under the influence of carbon black particles, clients with cooler skin undertones may experience some slightly cooler healing, with the expected color results drawing away from vivid red and leaning closer towards a neutral brown with hints of warmth.
